Developer Crystal Dynamics set out to rectify both of these problems by completely rebooting the franchise, dropping any subtitles in favor of a simple name indicative of a fresh start: Tomb Raider. Few reboots deserve to have a title with a name that carries so much promise, but this is definitely one of them.

The game isnt bad and if Laras perfection cant make you buy this game then youre probably a wanker. Or not, as the case may be.

A Survivor is born. Rebooting a series is always a risky prospect. Change too much and people hate you, change too little and people will also hate you. Can a developer ever win? Well, maybe not. You cant please everyone as the old adage goes but despite this Crystal Dynamics has managed to create one of the best gaming experiences of this year or recent memory.

Tomb Raider Review | DaxGamer

DaxGamer's Ed: "The name Lara Croft has been a house hold name in the gaming industry since debuting in 1996 with titles being released for the Sega Genesis, Playstation, Playstation 2, PC, PCS3, Xbox 360, Wii PSP. The games were a mixture of action, platforming and puzzle solving with the latter being the main focus for the franchise. The series would enjoy its fair share of success however; it has stumbled with recent releases with the exception of the Tomb Raider Legend and 2008s Tomb Raider Underworld. Five years later and we have a new Tomb Raider title albeit a reboot for the long running franchise. The newest title is the 5th in the series to be developed by Crystal Dynamics and attempts to take Lara Croft back to her roots. Is the latest release the much needed revival that gamers have been waiting for?"

DarkStation: "While not every promising idea Tomb Raider has is pulled off successfully, it nevertheless turns in a tense and memorable ride that combines modern game design with its forebears adventurous spirit in some exciting ways. Some of its missteps may well come at the cost of your enjoyment, but most cant hope to hurt the adventure in the long run. Although it never fully finds its identity, this is a game and a story worth seeing through."

Lets face it; Lara Croft is every gamers favourite heroine. If she isnt, its probably because youve never played a Tomb Raider game before. If you havent played a Tomb Raider game before then where have you been for the past seventeen years? When I was a child my parents allowed me to play two games on our old Windows 95 PC. Those two games were Worms and Tomb Raider. I can remember countless evenings where my brother, my dad and I would play Tomb Raider together trying to guide Lara through the various ruins and temples like a female Indiana Jones. So, when I heard that Square Enix were planning on rebooting the franchise I was, understandably, a little skeptical. I had felt for a long time that the Tomb Raider series had fallen from grace. Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary and Underworld were much of the same. Sure, they were good games, but they werent offering anything new. Square Enix promised to do just that, to reboot and re-brand the Tomb Raider game series. Well, re...
